Blur Training
Blur training gently fades words as you read, nudging your eyes to keep moving forward while your brain fills in meaning from context. It is a focused way to build confident, forward-only reading without the habit of re-reading.
Why it works
- Trains forward eye motion and reduces regressions.
- Expands visual span by forcing you to capture more in a single glance.
- Strengthens contextual guessing so comprehension stays steady at speed.
What you will feel
At first the blur feels demanding. Within a few sessions it becomes a smooth, almost rhythmic way to read. The blur keeps you honest: you cannot stall, so your eyes and brain learn to trust the flow of the sentence.
Example (what it looks like)
Below is a real Blur sample that uses the same markup and styling as the app.
The
quick
brown
fox
jumps
over
the
lay dog.
Goal: Keep moving forward and use context to fill in the masked letters.
Step-by-step in the app
- Flip the card to begin. A short passage appears.
- Read while the blur masks more letters. Avoid stopping or backtracking.
- Use Reveal to temporarily unmask the text, then tap Blur to continue training.
- Open Options to change blur amount (Minimal to Insane) and choose a style.
- Resize the card if you want larger or tighter line lengths.
- Advance to the next card and repeat.
Levels and controls
The Blur slider moves from minimal to heavy. Start light, then move to medium and heavy as you can read without hesitation. The style options change how the blur looks (block, frost, ink, and more). Pick one that feels readable but challenging.
How to use Blur training
- Start with a mild blur intensity and short sessions.
- Increase intensity only after you can read without hesitation.
- Alternate Blur with normal Readings to test your gains.
